CASE STUDY
School District of Philadelphia: OnBoard Services
SITUATION: The School Reform Commission (SRC) hired a new Superintendent of schools, Dr. Arlene Ackerman. Since she was not from the area, the SRC decided to hire someone to acclimate her to the City of Philadelphia. They adopted the onboarding approach, as used by Wachovia Bank, for its new executives. The onboarding coach introduces the executive to key stakeholders in the city. Maven was chosen due to its contacts with community and business leaders, as well as relationships with local and state politicians.
STRATEGY: Maven developed a plan to have Dr. Ackerman attend functions city-wide so Philadelphians could get to know her and her vision for the schools in Philadelphia.
